Día de la Cruz

On  3 of May , we were part of the fiesta. As traditionally, the Día de la Cruz ceremony was held on this day in Granada. This is one of the most popular festivals in Andalusia.

At noon we met  at Daniel's house. We ate, drank, and learnt a few, basic steps of sevillanas with Daniel's friend to be ready to dance together at the crosses.

We tried again to cook tortilla de patata but this time it was successless. Of course we tried to save the saveable. And Julia said that although she doesn't make this dish a lot, she will show us how she has learned the preparation method.
After the common feast we visited to crosses. The city council is launching a competition every year to promote this tradition. There are four categories: terraces (courtyards), streets and squares, shop windows and schools.

We will try again :D
We walked a lot, and we were still standing in line to get in one place, but it was quite worth, because we saw very nice courtyards. Lot of people walked on the streets, but luckily, not so much as the Semana Santana. Although for me the holy week was special, I have to admit that this day is much more enjoyable. Women, children dress in beautiful dresses walk on the streets and dance at the crosses. Unfortunately, we could not get flamenco clothes, but we tried to get  colourful dresses and show our dance talent at the crosses :D
We finished our tour in the evening. I loved it. And this one day has helped us a lot to taste Spain, Andalusia and specifically Granada's culture.
